Dear Q Group Member
Your Committee recently considered the Group's logo and decided
there was a need to update this important group symbol.
In order to ensure that all members had a chance to contribute and
to ensure the best outcome it was decided to hold a design competition
to find a replacement for the current logo.
Design Criteria
The winning logo will:
- Be visually suggestive of some key aspect of the Q Group's
interest, ie, it could incorporate a large Q into an efficient
frontier like this

- Be readily scalable from a small size suitable for the side of
a pen barrel to a large size suitable for a T-shirt and even to a
giant size suitable for a conference backdrop.
- Come in both a grey-scale (or black and white) version
suitable for letterheads, photocopied notices etc, and a colour
version(s) suitable for a web site, mouse pad, T-shirt, etc.
- Be capable of being readily transformed into a variety of
digital formats for these different uses, ie, EPS for letterheads,
GIF for web site etc.
- Not violate any copyright or trademark laws. (In particular,
do not copy the US Q Group's
logo.)
Rules
- The competition is open to all Q Group members and their
affiliates (family, friends and colleagues).
- Entries are to be submitted by post to:
Logo Competition
Q Group Australia
PO Box R53

- If the entry is submitted in digital form it should include
instructions for printing the entry.

submitted entries or whose immediate family members have submitted
entries) will select one logo design from all eligible entries
received by 30 September 1998. (If there are less than three
remaining eligible Committee members, the committee will have the
power to co-opt other Q Group members to form a judging panel).
- The designer of the winning entry will receive a cheque for
$250 and honourable mention on the Q
Group's web site (on an About our
Logo page).
- No correspondence will be entered into. The Committee's
decision is final.
- All entries will become and remain the property of The
Institute for Quantitative Research in Finance, Incorporated.
